June 2014 Inspirational Place of the Month ~ Schoharie Valley, New York

Although considered geographically part of central New York State, the Schoharie Valley is close enough in proximity to Albany to be considered a part of the Capital Region. Famous for its agriculture and sweeping panoramic views, the Schoharie Valley is also home to several points of interests including the celebratory Howes Caverns, the Iroquois Museum, and the popular Pumpkin Patch in the town of Central Bridge. The unique Carrot Barn offers great produce, locally made gifts and a small restaurant three seasons of the year.

Besides the quaint town of Schoharie, which boasts a Tory tavern and covered bridge among its novelties, the valley also hosts the larger town of Cobleskill, home to a New York State University. In addition, Schoharie Valley boasts apple orchards for pick-your-own raspberries and apples in the summer and fall, excellent hiking trails and Mine Kill State Park.
