February 2014 Inspirational Place of the Month ~ New Hampshire’s Monadnock Region

Coinciding with a visit later this month, February’s inspirational place for February is the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, which is located in the southern corner of the New England state. Home to Margaret and her son Julian’s beloved camp GlenBrook, which has helped to inspire several of the instrumental compositions on Margaret’s “Full Circle” CD.  New Hampshire’s Monadnock region has also been home to the McDowell Colonie near Petersborough, inspiring some of our country’s best poetry and classical compositions. In the heart of the region, of course, lies the majestic Mount Monadnock boosting beautiful views of the state and also Vermont. The mountain has been sited as the most climbed mountain in the United States and the third in the world (after Japan’s Mount Fuji and China’s Mount Tai, respectively) and hosts trails for nearly every ability. The city of Keene, New Hampshire, which boosts an annual pumpkin festival, is the gateway to the beautiful Monadnock region.
