th-2-1

Margaret’s inspirational place for the month of April is the city of Chicago, which she recently visited with her son, Julian. Chicago, affectionately dubbed “The Windy City”, is located in the midwestern state of Illinois along Lake Michigan. The third largest city in the United States, Chicago boasts world class museums including the Art Institute and the Museum of Science of Industry as well as a top notch symphony orchestra, opera company and theater groups. The music scene is Chicago is thriving, being the home to  the country’s Jazz and Blues communities. In addition, the city is also home to many prestigious colleges and Universities including Northwestern and the University of Chicago. In addition to all of these culture landmarks, Chicago is famous for its Wrigley field, home of the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team in addition to its shopping along the Miracle Mile, which includes the famous watertower plaza. Also in downtown Chicago is Millennium park, which houses the newest landmark, “The Bean”, the iconic bean-shaped sculpture, which serves as one gigantic mirror in the park.

Chicago is not only home to our current President, Barack Obama, but also to over thirty of Margaret’s cousins as well as several friends. The hometown of Margaret’s father, there has always been a little of Chicago inside of her. For further information and/or to plan a visit,  please see www.cityofchicago.org.
